Mtume has been the background music to most of my life. In the biggest venues you’d hear their music, and “Juicy Fruit” was a staple for years. Not just the longevity but the importance of this song surpassed so many genres. The beats I mixed to it as well were some of the hardest Hip Hop joints of their time.
